What the 🙏 emoji means

Two palms pressed together. Read as prayer in the West, as thanks or a plea in Japan — where it was designed — and often simply as «please» or «thank you» in everyday chat.

A polite way to ask for a favour or acknowledge one. It is not a high five, despite a persistent myth to the contrary.
