What the 🙂 emoji means

A plain face with the faintest of smiles. Neutral politeness on its surface, and something else underneath it.

One of the most misread emoji there is. Younger users take it as passive aggression or resignation; older ones mean it warmly. Assume the reader may take it the other way.
